Mid 19th Century ABP Cut Crystal Dresser Jar with S. Kirk and Son Co. Sterling Silver Dogwood and Apple Blossom Floral Motif Repousse Lid

This beautiful mid 19th century abp cut crystal dresser jar features a highly detailed floral repousse sterling silver lid made by s. The lid includes dogwood and apple blossoms with associated foliage, all set on a stippled ground. The cut crystal dresser jar has a series of polished concave cuts separated by 22 vertical ridges decorated with notched cuts. The underside of the jar is finished with a large hobstar motif. The dresser jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. As an antique, the jar shows signs of age including slight shelf wear to the base mentioned for accuracy. The slip-on sterling lid is in very good condition and fits snugly on the neck, providing an airtight seal. It shows signs of age including traces of tarnish and very slight dents that are extremely hard to see unless under very close inspection. The dresser jar stands 2.75" tall with the lid in place and is 4" as measured across the widest point of the shoulders. The jar itself is 1.75 deep.

The mouth of the jar is 2.75" across, and the foot is 3" across. The sterling lid weighs 56.7 grams, and the side bears a s.

Kirk & son mark used from 1846 to 1861 that reads s. Kirk & son co" and "925.

The dresser jar weighs 9.5 oz when the lid is in place. This elegant cut crystal dresser jar would be a wonderful addition to a collection of antique abp jars or works equally well showcased on its own. A very pretty find ideal for use or display.
