This is a superb unused 1950's brass musical powder box. Made in great britain, with a thorens of switzerland musical movement which works perfectly. The tune is'star dust'. The hinged lid, which is decorated with attractive engine turned patterns, opens to reveal a clear mirror and the celluloid lined powder well.
The original powder puff is also present. There is granulated texturing around the circumference of the box. On the base there are three bun feet, the winding key, and more engine turned patterns. The powder box measures 8.8cm in diameter and stands 5cm high (3.5 x 2.0 inches).
Stamped'made in great britain' - although unsigned my research indicates that it was likely made by a. Brown, the owner of the mascot brand. A lovely piece which is in excellent condition. The brass is tarnished in places but this could easily be polished off.
I have not cleaned it as i think it looks wonderful as it is. Many thanks for visiting cocolitavintage, please don't hesitate to send me a message if you have any questions. This item is made of brass and swiss musical movement, mirror, celluloid liner, powder puff.
