Vintage indonesian yogya/djokja silver talcum powder shaker/flask/box. The original oxidation is intact and typifies this unique type of silverware. It is a stunning handcrafted piece decorated with a wealth of oriental foliage and flowers. Yogya/djokja silver items were prolifically made in jakarta, java, from the 1930's onwards and into the 1960's. On the back is stamped his with 800 below that (see photo).

This means that the silver content is 800/1000. The silversmith/artist/creator of this case is his.

I could find no further information on the artist. Considering the item's age and having been used, the talcum powder flask/shaker is in good condition. A lovely gift or collectable.
