Very special lidded white porcelain powder box, trinket box, jewelry box from the 1940s box and lid are covered with decorations of pink & red roses and green leaves, and the lid has a gorgeous raised ballerina dancer in a a semi-splits position: one leg is extended out to the side, and one knee is bent. She is wearing a tutu with 2 flowers on top, and a layered ruffled tutu skirt, and striking a lovely pose and expression. She's decorated with gold leaf on her tutu, hair, and face, and both the lid and box bottom have gold leaf. She has a beautiful face, with gold leaf facial details that are delicate and striking.
The shades of pink and red roses and buds surround the ballerina, and are also on the front and back of the box bottom, and a little bud on the inside bottom. Lots of detail in the roses decoration i have had this piece in my collection for decades, because it is so unique. I have never seen another like it measures approximately 6" x 4" and 7 tall with the ballerina finial. Absolutely excellent condition, with pure white porcelain, vibrant color decoration, and lots of gold leaf that is completely intact.
No chips, scratches, cracks, crazing or other imperfections. The box has no markings, but i'm guessing it's from the 40s based on the stylization and the costume of the ballerina. Beautiful as an oval powder box, a trinket box or a jewelry box. Lovely in the bathroom with cotton balls or q-tips, fabulous on your dressing table or bedside table. This item is made of porcelain, white porcelain, floral decoration, roses decoration, gold leaf decoration and ballerina decoration.
