There is a cartouche at the center finished with a beautifully executed hand-engraved monogram. The powder jar stands 4" tall and is 3.5" across the widest point of the shoulders.
The neck is 1.5" across and the foot is 2" across. The piece weighs 10.2 oz. The powder jar is in very good antique condition with no cracks or repairs.
As an antique, the jar shows appropriate signs of use consisting of some chips to the sides and a shallow chip/slight shelf wear to the base, all of which do not detract from the appearance of the piece and are mentioned for accuracy. The sterling lid is also in very good condition and fits squarely and securely on the neck. It shows signs of age including traces of tarnish and very slight dents that are extremely hard to see unless under very close inspection. The side of the lid bears the word "sterling" along with an intertwined "wws" wilcox silver plate co. /international silver maker's mark that was used to mark their sterling items. This elegant cut crystal dresser powder jar would be a wonderful addition to a collection of antique abp powder jars or works equally well showcased on its own. A very pretty antique find perfect for use or display. To see my complete collection of fine antiques and quality vintage at birneycreek.
