Antique Art Deco Chinoiserie Japanese Geisha Scene Lacquer Powder Compact Box

Up for sale is a beautiful antique 1930s Art Deco powder compact. Made of gilded brass with lacquer decoration, the compact features Japanese-inspired scenes of geisha in a garden, characteristic of the Chinoiserie style popular in the period. In my opinion, it is German-made. The interior retains its original puff and net. The compact is empty (no powder) and appears to have seen light use. It is well preserved overall, with age-appropriate wear.

There is a small area of lacquer loss, affecting part of the red dress of one geisha, as visible in the photos. Despite this, it remains a very attractive and collectible example of 1930s decorative cosmetic accessories. 2.75" x 2.75".
