Antique Bavarian Match Holder Trinket Box Hand Painted Pink Roses Victorian Vintage Vanity Shabby Cottage Boudoir
Antique bavarian match holder trinket box hand painted pink roses victorian vintage vanity shabby cottage boudoir. Here is a unique item you don't see much of these days. This antique porcelain box was originally a utilitarian item meant to hold matches or hair pins, but could still remain a feminine part of the dressing table. Lift the lid and keep your loose wooden matches inside, turn the base over and you will find that it has been molded with ridges so you can strike a match. This lovely little box is an elongated oval shape and has beautifully hand painted pink roses and lush foliage against a white background shaded in pastel tones of yellow and blue. The edges are lavishly gilded for an elegant touch. Dating to the late 1890s victorian era to the early 1900s edwardian period, it is just one part of a four piece matching dresser set that i have enjoyed for many years, all pieces painted by the same unknown but talented artist. Elegantly displayed in my antique french vitrine cabinet, it always managed to get compliments from anyone who peered through the wavy glass. It is in very good condition for something over 120 years old. No chips or cracks, but there is wear to the gold banding around the edges. The interior of the lid is marked classic bavaria. " the box measures 4" long x 2.5" wide and stands 2" tall. This is a sweet little piece is just the perfect size to hold rings or small trinkets. Overall, a pretty antique porcelain trinket or vanity box for your dressing table. Please see my other listings for the matching pieces for sale. Let my past treasures be your new ones to cherish for years to come.
