This is a lovely antique powder box that could have many other uses including ring and jewelry holder, trinket holder or other ideas you might have. It is perfect for any setting that lends itself to a romantic touch, especially a vanity table or other area that includes makeup, jewelry, etc. Its cream colored background is decorated with pink and purple roses that have embossed gold centers and green leaves with thorny stems. This box was manufactured by zs&co and my research dates it to the time period 1880-1918, so it is very worthy of being called an antique.
In addition to the zs&co bavaria backstamp, there is over glaze backstamp "royal munich hand painted". The lid of the box is signed "guinand". This powder/trinket box would make a perfect valentine gift for a little girl or a big girl. Also a beautiful addition to anyone's collection of antique glass items. The box is in good antique condition with a crack that can be seen on the inside rim. There is a very tiny chip on the inside rim and some discoloration on the inside rim presumably from its intended use as a box to hold powder.
None of these defects detract from the outside appearance and are simply wear to be expected from a piece this old. Indeed the outside of both the lid and the bottom piece have that lovely patina that comes with age. This trinket box is approx 2" tall and 5" in diameter.
