Antique richard hudnut complimentary powder box for use as a sachet holder or powder sifter. Sifts out powder on one side with the movement of a small lever that opens and shuts.There is a residue of powder still located in the box. Richard alexander hudnut (june 2, 1855 october 30, 1928) was an american businessman recognized as the first american to achieve international success in cosmetics manufacturing. The company once maintained separate us and european headquarters on fifth avenue in new york city and on the rue de la paix in paris, respectively. The front is stamped with "new york - richard hudnut - paris - complimentary" the patent # date on the side is 8-2-21. Measures: 1.75 in diameter. Condition: this powder holder has seen much use over the years. The nickle-silver is dented on the top and scratches can be seen over all.
