Antique Tortoiseshell and Silver Powder Box

A stunning tortoiseshell and silver powder pot, hallmarks dating it to 1918 (during ww1) and made in london by cork & apthorp. The silver inlay in the tortoiseshell hinged lid is beautiful and features a fruit bowl and birds, as well as delightful swaths, all handfinished/hammered. It also includes the original inner powder tray.

The hinge mechanism is still very secure. There are some dinks and signs of aging, as to be expected of an item of this age.

To us, the wear on the silver only makes it more beautiful and are signs of past love. Approximately 6cm wide and 2cm high. Please see photos for condition. This item is made of silver and tortoiseshell.
