Offered here for your consideration is a fine antique victorian wavecrest covered glass dresser box. A piece of so-called opal ware, the glass has a creamy opaque coloration similar to that of white opal. There are floral decorations throughout. Raised flowers run around the circumference of both the lid and the base. The center of the lid has traces of what appear to have been pansy flowers. Connected by a gilt metal hinge, the box is opened by pushing up on a hook that protrudes from the mount. Simply a wonderful piece of wavecrest glass. Late 19th or early 20th century. It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs.
The lid retains traces of its original hand painted flowers. There are scratches and losses to the gilt finish of the hinge and mount. Otherwise, there are some very fine light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Marked to the base with a red wavecrest makers mark. Thanks for looking and good luck.
