This is a beautiful powder box. I would guess this to be from the 30's or 40's, but it could be older.
The filigree is very detailed, even the edge under the lid has an engraved pattern. The outside of the mirrored lid features a pink and blue bouquet painted on a fine ivory satin - most likely silk - covered by glass. There is some faint darker areas on the fabric - see last photo. A marked hazel-atlas glass bowl rests inside the box to hold the powder.
Padded blue velveteen base prevents scratches to a dresser or vanity - there is some wear on edges consistent to age. Inside the base is ivory velveteen. The puff is a dark rose with matching satin ribbon. It is over 1-1/2 inches thick and although it has been washed, it retains a slight powder scent. Overall dimensions are 4-5/8 inch diameter and 2-3/4 inches high. The inside dimensions of the bowl are 4 inch diameter and 1-5/8 inches deep. This item is made of brass and silk, glass, paint, fake fur, ribbon.
