Monroe nakara (wavecrest) satin milk glass powder/trinket box. Wavecrest was produced as an opal glass blank and then decorated. Nakara pieces were made in lesser quantities and are harder to find.
Most of these were made between 1890 and 1910. The box is pale sage green and pink tones background. Pink and white roses are hand painted and raised against the glass top. It is lined on the inside with green satin that is torn in areas. It also has a mirror in good shape that tilts and a beautiful swansdown powder puff with a veriegated green and pink trim and bow.
The box has a 3/4 gold color ormolu band with clasp. This lovely box has no chips or cracks and only a little damage to the satin lining. The mirror is not foggy or scratched, the puff is in great shape. This box is 6 wide at the base 5 1/4 across top and 4 high. This item is made of glass and satin, metal.
