Louis Kuppenheim Germany Art Deco Silver 935 Guilloche Enamel Orientalist Powder Box- ca. 1920s

Artdecogalaxy presents: a louis kuppenheim germany, silver 935 guilloche enamel powder box depicting stylized flowers in the orientalist style of the period, circa 1920s. The box is made of gilded solid silver with an enameled lid. The lid's background is turquoise blue guilloche enamel with hand painted and enamel orientalist decoration outlined with gold in the kuppenheim manner. It's gilded inside and has a mirror beneath the lid, and a powder puff.

This box was made by famous german silversmith louis kuppenheim in the city of pforzheim germany, also known as "goldstadt" ("golden city") for its jewelry and watch-making industry, louis kuppenheim was renowned for his outstanding enamel works in orientalist style as well as for the complexity of the pieces, using double enamel firing, incrustation of gold, and exceptional workmanship to the smallest details. He was awarded a gold medal at the paris world fair exhibition in 1900 where he also had a store in the rue richelieu 67.

Measures 4cm (1.57") diameter, 1cm (0.39") high. Wear consistent with use and age, some tarnish to the silver, the inside and the puff look in nor used, in overall very good vintage condition.
