Pressed pattern glass hair receiver and powder jars with metal cover lids. These lids were originally silver plated, however there is wear that removed some of the plating so that the brass/metal shows through. Hair receiver: 3 1/2 tall with cover in place x 3 1/4 wide top diameter x 4.25 wide.
Powder jar: 3.25 tall with cover in place x 3.25 wide at top diameter and 4.25 inches wide. During the victorian era, a common fixture in a women's vanity was the hair receiver, a round container with a hole in the top that could be made of porcelain, glass, metal, crystal, or some combination of these. The hair left on a brush or comb would be collected and pushed into the finger-sized opening. When the container was full, the contents could be removed by lifting the lid. This item is made of glass and metal.
