Antique porcelain hand painted lidded powder jar or dish with lid and a mirror. It was made in germany, circa the 1920s to 1930s. This exquisite art deco era dish is stamped in gold letters on the bottom with germany and the number 24, which is most likely the mold number. Beautifully handpainted this antique lidded dish features delicate pastel flowers with gold leaves that lay against a white porcelain background. The lid is trimmed with leaf-decorated gold paint. In the center of the lid is a circle of leaves painted in gold with a single yellow flower in the center of the circle. Where the lid and the base meet there are brass ormolu pieces that encircle the dish. The hinge is also ormolu and snaps open and closes nicely. The interior design echoes the exterior design with the same delicate flowers on the base and along the sides.
On the underside of the lid is a mirror. While you can clearly see a reflection, there is some loss to the silver backing on one of the outer edges, which we feel simply adds to its proof of age and gives it even more charm and character. In addition to using as a powder dish, it will also be wonderful to place on your vanity or a table to hold jewelry, trinkets, cosmetic accessories, or keepsakes.
In very good antique condition. With the exception of the minor silver loss on the mirror, there are no chips or cracks and no crazing. The colors are bright and beautiful.
