Mirror, mirror, on the wall. Who is the fairest most loveliest of them all extremely rare & absolutely beautiful 1920s art deco era "snow white" face powder box, full, sealed & never used. From the early 20's, wonderful graphics on lid & sides. Color of powder is called' topaz tan' in fantastic unused condition. Wonderful amazing gorgeous piece of beauty history for displaying amongst your purple vintage vanity collection on your vanity dressing table or boudoir table'. With your vintage, art deco or antique powder box or rouge collection.

Makes a great gift for the serious vintage makeup, beauty & vanity collector, any fan of snow white & the seven dwarfs, or a special gift to treat yourself. Back reads as follows: snow white face powder topaz tan (high brown) a glamorous shade for light brown complexion. Oh my only 25 cents.

Research tells me that this face powder was meant for women with dark skin & african americans who wanted to whiten or'bleach' their skin to a lighter tone. Once used as a "bleaching agent"or'whitening' face powder. Refer to last photo for one of the original cosmetic ads that was featured in a magazine for'negroes'. I found the ad on a uk website. Searched all over the web for it. Era: early 1920's, art deco, antique, art nouveau era. Condition: wonderful vintage unused sealed condition, little wear (except the bottom) considering it's age of being nearly 100 years old; bottom is a bit dirty & a tiny tear on the bottom where it reads'complexion'; tiny slight dent on one side, but not obvious & this does not detract from the gorgeous beauty of the colorful purple graphics on the outside lid cover; see all photos in zoom view for details & please let me know if you need any more; the 1st photo shows as a bit brighter purple than the lid actually is. It's more of a softer purple as shown in the last photo. Not recommended for actual use, due to it's age & unknown properties of contents. For display or film, theatre prop purposes only.
