This is a very rare harriet hubbard ayer's medallion face powder box that has never been opened. Both of the beautiful embossed gold seals marked "france" on either side are still intact, as well as the label marked "white". A highly collectible item from the 1920-30's, a beautiful example of french art deco advertising, and a piece of women's history that would be a prize for anyone's collection.
Harriet hubbard ayer was a chicago socialite. She became famous for having initiated the first cosmetic company in the united states and for fighting to maintain her business against male predators.
