This is a very rare and superb quality art deco black enamel powder compact by orahic, france dating from the 1920's. It has a beautiful diamond shape lapis lazuli stone in a silver surround to the centre of the lid. Open the lid to find a perfect bevelled edge mirror set into the lid and a gilt lift up cover. Under the cover is a gilt lined powder well.
The cover of the powder well is signed "orahic" and has a tiny animal with long tail with the initials h & a on either side. The compact measures approx 2.5" x 2" x 0.5.
In excellent vintage condition with the only minor age related flaw being that the outer lid does not clip and stay completely closed although the inner powder cover clips and stays closed perfectly. There is also expected slight scuffing to the lapis lazuli from use and age that can only be seen under a jewellery glass - please see all photos. I will then work out the best option and contact you. This item is made of enamel, silver, gilt and glass.
