Victorian Sterling Silver Repousse Box, Floral Engraved Powder or Trinket Holder by Howard and Co NY, Antique 1800s Vanity

Exquisite antique victorian sterling silver powder box features beautiful floral repoussé decoration, c. Vanity piece has a lift off rounded top and is chased and engraved on all visible surfaces. Flowers look like buttercups, florist's ranunculus, a daisy, anemones, and graceful leaves.

The details are superb, and the box has a heavy weight for its size. Piece could also be used as a trinket or keepsake holder. It would make an elegant mother's day gift. New york and sterling, as well as what we think is a date mark 1884. A graver's mark bb378 appears underneath howard & co. Founded in providence, ri 1878 to 1901, when it was succeeded by roger williams sterling co.

There are two minor shallow creases or lines on the bottom which were hard to capture in photos. 2-3/4 diameter x 1 high (with lid). Weight: 73.7g (2.60 oz). This item is made of solid sterling silver.
