This beautiful fenton dresser box or powder box, is hand crafted, from fenton's 1992 limited edition, connoisseur collection. The collections represents a special use of the glassmaker's art. The treatment used in this box is marbleized lustre on opal glass. It's hand painted pattern is poppy and daisy.
The dresser box was designed by frances burton for this special wave crest box. The box is signed, numbered 564 and has original stickers on bottom. It also comes with the fenton certificate, signed by george w fenton, see pics. The overall styleswirled or wave shape glass, enamel decoration and an ornate metal mount ring on lid is representative of the 19th- to early 20th-century bohemian or french design. Such boxes were popular as powder boxes, jewelry caskets, or general vanity items. The base of the box is in euc, with age appropriate ware. The lid has several cracks, see pics. Even with these flaws, it's still a stunning fenton dresser or powder box. I do my best to accurately describe the item and provide quality pictures.
