This is a vintage french porcelain powder box in a deep blue with hand-painted gilt border, and the royal crest of francois i's wife, claude de bretagne, with its crown and ermine; underwritten with langeais (one of the loire valley chateaux). Marked in gilt j p and "france" with a castle on the bottom (jean pouyat, limoges).
There is a rim chip to the underside of the lid and to the top of the box, followed by a 3/4 hairline. 3 1/2" by 2 1/4". Please send a note to inquire. Thanks for looking, and happy treasure-hunting.
