Vintage Hallmark Silver Top Small Cut Glass Boudoir Jar Birmingham 1917 Barnsley and Co

Vintage hallmark silver top small cut glass boudoir jar birmingham 1917 barnsley & co. This pretty little cut glass boudoir or dressing table jar with hallmarked sterling silver lid is in very good condition. There are no chips or cracks to the glass and no dings to the lid. The hallmarks on the lid rim are a little rubbed but legible.

The makers' initials,'esb' are for e. The little pot was assayed in birmingham, however, the date letter's' is almost identical for 1917 and 1942. Barnsley & co was most active between the 1880s-1920s, i believe this little pot dates to 1917. This puts it in the reign of george v, the year of the battle of vimy ridge in ww1, and this was also the year of the russian revolution.
