This here is a wonderful vintage silverplate round powder jar. This powder jar features a lovely renaissance serenade scene depicting a lute player serenading two young ladies in a garden.
Now, this piece is being offered as is. This is so due to the chips and craze lines seen to the lid scene. These are evident in the close up photos. That said, this is still a nice jar with an ornate pattern on the side and laurel pattern lid edges.A glass insert is in place on the inside with a mirror on the underside of the lid. Measuring appr 1 3/4 height with lid and appr.
4 1/4 across at rim, this jar is in otherwise good condition. There is some minor surface wear and tarnish to the plate. Though i'm sure it would look great with a proper polishing, personally, i like it in its current condition. The plate looks to be in pretty good condition.
There are a few flaw spot to the mirror, mainly around the edge, which can be seen in photos. These aren't cracks but rather wear to the silver backing as these spots are not perceptible by touch. There might be some very slight misshaping to the rim. All is pretty evident in photos so please examine photos closely to properly determine condition. Overall, though certainly not in perfect condition, still a very nice vintage silverplate powder jar that would look great on any vanity or dresser top. This item is made of silverplate.
