Beautiful aluminum powder puff music box with a decorative silver finish in a beehive shape and a ceramic medallion that is painted with classical greek scene. These music boxes were popular in the 1930's and held face powder on the dresser.

Often called a powder puff music box, when the lid is lifted the music is played, when the lid is replaced a small wire stops the music. The metal on the outside shows the patina of age and the black enamel paint around the ceramic medallion is worn. The inside of the top lid shows some discoloration, probably from the powder that was used. The wooden bottom is painted gold and is set with 3 round wooden feet. The small powder puff inside is not original, but clean and fits inside.

The music box works well with gentle winding, although i don't recognize the melody. Measures 4 inches high and 4 inches at the widest point. A lovely gift for someone special, perfect for ring storage or use with powder as intended. This item is made of music box and painted medallion, aluminum.
