This is a circa 1898 wavecrest opaque glass dresser jar with a hinged hand painted enameled lid. The color is a creamy pale, pale yellow - it measures approximately 2-3/4" tall to the top and approximately 3-3/4" across the lid.
The base is approximately 4 across at the widest part. Please look at all the pictures - they are a big part of the description. It is marked "wavecrest" on the underside. The lid closes well, the hinge is good and it closes tight, but does not "snap" closed. The lid sits properly on the base.
The collar has a fancy design. The painting has some loss, not a lot.No chips, cracks or repairs. The brass is discolored and has not been polished.
Wavecrest was made by the pairpoint manufacturing company in new bedford, massachusetts and decorated by c. It has a couple speckles of discoloration on the lid at the back - you can see this in picture 10. This item is made of glass, brass and enamel paint.
